Last Sunday we celebrated the gift of the Holy Spirit that is available to each and every one of us. There was a real sensitivity to the Holy Spirit as we held out our hands to receive the gift that God is always offering to us. Next Sunday we will consider the Fullness of the Holy Spirit. On the day of Pentecost, the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit. God wants to fill us today in the same way. I guess that many of you might be taking advantage of the holiday weekend and going away. If you are, ask the Holy Spirit to refresh you and use you wherever you are, and pray for those of us who will gather together at Cascade this Sunday for worship.
Pioneers Finale
What a night we had together last evening (Wednesday) to round off another year of Pioneers. A great crowd of children, parents, grandparents and friends gathered together in the gym for year end presentations, musical numbers, a talent quest, and, of course, food!! Pioneers is an amazing outreach ministry of our church. A big thank you to Children’s Pastor Corrie, Julianne Newell and all the leaders. We look forward to the start up again in September.
Salvation from Homelessness
Did you see the excellent front page article with this title in the Abbotsford news last Saturday? The news item highlighted the stories of Warren Peterson, Ken Hundt and Earl Terepocki, who have each been able to get their lives back on track through the ministry of the Centre of Hope.
Whenever I visit this Centre I am amazed at the way Andy Kwak and his dedicated staff give themselves to the people who come for assistance. Thank God for our Centre of Hope and for the testimonies of Warren, Earl , Ken and others like them whose lives are being turned around as a result of this ministry. Historymaker
Please pray for about 20 of our youth who will be attending the Historymaker conference this weekend in Chilliwack. They will be lead by James Bush along with Apryl Atkinson, Wendy Wagner and Becky Horsman. In the past this conference has been used by God to speak powerfully into the lives of our young people. Pray that it will happen again this weekend!
ICBC Golf Day
Tomorrow (Friday) some of us from Cascade will be involved in the golf day sponsored by ICBC. Some 100 or so golfers will take part, and the end result will be more than $10,000 raised for our work in Abbotsford. Thank God for companies and individuals in this community who are committed to supporting our ministries!
Did you know …
… that on most Monday mornings at 11 a.m., our Pastoral Care Team meets at the Church and we attempt to read out loud the name of every person who attends our services at Cascade? We then discuss any known needs, which we pray about, and decide on any practical action that might give support to a particular member or members. Thank you to Lieut. Colonels Peter and Esther Røed, Lieut. Colonels George and Gertie Ostryk, Majors Fred and Hilary Jackson and Majors John and Lynda Richardson who share this ministry with Agnes and me.
