Our congregation was a little down in numbers last Sunday, but certainly upbeat in terms of praise and worship! No doubt many of you enjoyed the opportunity to get away for the long weekend. We hope to see you back with us at Cascade on Sunday. This week, our series on the Holy Spirit sees us looking at the various gifts that the Holy Spirit gives to those who open their lives to receive Him. It is Brunch Sunday, so come prepared to stay after the service and enjoy food and fellowship. At 2 p.m. there will be a Wheel-a-thon rerun at Mill Lake Park. Hopefully many of you will be able to join in that event as well.
Partners in Mission
On Sunday we look forward to sharing together in a special offering for our Partners in Mission project. Our partner this year is Mexico. Envelopes will be available for you to participate in this appeal. Our goal for this year is $15,000 but we are hoping to go well beyond that amount. We who have so much in beautiful Canada have a responsibility to share with those who have so little in other parts of the world.
Future Direction
On Tuesday evening of this coming week, our Mission Board will be meeting with Dr. Bill Hoyt of Nexstepcoaching. Dr. Hoyt will be making a presentation to the board, outlining his method for assessing the current state of health of a church, and then working with the church on developing a strategic plan for future direction. After hearing from Dr. Hoyt, the Mission Board will make a decision as to whether we will engage the services of Nexstep Coaching. Please be in prayer for the Mission Board at 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
Historymaker
We hear great reports from the Historymaker conference that many of our youth attended last weekend. On Sunday we will get to hear some testimonies and stories from those who attended. Thank you for your prayers on behalf of our team that benefited from this experience.
ICBC Golf Day
As I mentioned last week, some of us from Cascade were in attendance at the Golf Day held on Friday at Ledgeview Golf Course. Well over a hundred people played golf and helped raise money for our work in the Community of Abbotsford. We are very grateful to the ICBC organizing committee and the local businesses that helped sponsor this event. It is expected we will receive more than $10,000 dollars from this fundraising event.
Did you know …
…that Andy Kwak is now the official Fire Brigade Chaplain for the City of Abbotsford. This is an honour for Andy and for our church. Pray that Andy will be used to bring comfort and counsel to those who are distressed through the tragedy of fire. Andy is also exploring the possibility of becoming chaplain to the Abbotsford Airport. Last week our Emergency Response Vehicle was called out to a fire. You will hear more very soon about opportunities to volunteer in this important ministry.
May you open your life to be filled with the Holy Spirit throughout this week!
